Botox FAQs
How often do I need Botox?
Everyone metabolizes Botox slightly differently, but the general thought is that Botox wears off at around the 3 month mark.
Some people choose to undergo repeat Botox injections every 3 months, some people wait closer to 6 months, and some will wait even longer! It just depends on your personal preferences.
What medications should I avoid before Botox?
To minimize bruising after Botox, it is recommended to avoid NSADs (Advil, Aleve) for ~ 3 days prior to treatment. Avoiding alcohol the day of and day before will also help.
Some patients like to take arnica a day or two before and after Botox injections to help with bruising.
What is the difference between the different neuromodulators?
Botox and Dysport are both a form of botulinum toxin A, so they are essentially the same medication. Their dilutions differ, so you will use different units of Botox and Dysport for the same areas. Dysport may have a slightly faster onset. Typically, their effects both last around 3 months.
